A community mask protects the others first. But in the mean time it also protects the person wearing the mask if others wear it as well. 

Wearing a Community mask should be considered as an additional precaution to avoiding social contact, keeping distances and thoroughly washing hands. 

People wearing masks should not be misled about their level of protection: they offer 95% BFE. 

WHAT ARE COMMUNITY (COMFORT) MASKS ?

Community masks are intended for the general public. They can help slow down the spread of Coronavirus in addition to protective measures such as hand hygiene and social distancing. 
There are different types and models:
- Community masks
- Mass production masks 
- Hand-made masks
They can be made of various materials, be washable or disposable.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A COMMUNITY (COMFORT) MASK AND A FFP2 OR SURGICAL MASK ?

Medical or surgical masks and FFP2/FFP3 masks (called "dust masks") are respiratory protection masks that protect against coronavirus. Medical or surgical masks are medical devices and fall within the competence of the Federal Agency for Medicines and Health Products (FAMHP). More information can be found on the FAMHP website. 

HOW EFFICIENT ARE CLOTH MASKS ?

Cloth masks can be made out off several materials. These masks have however not been through all the efficiency tests mentioned previously. …. of cloth masks show a lower filtration efficiency than  community masks. A study on medical staff members has shown an increased risk of respiratory infection in the group wearing cloth masks compared to the ones wearing community masks.
